Table of Contents

This headache condition is not uncommon and affects many people, most often women.  Sufferers will experience pain, often dull, pressure like and severe, on both sides of their head which can often be constant.  Patients will report also report change in their vision with their symptoms.  It most often affects women who are overweight.  As a result of increased pressure in the skull, misdiagnosis and inadequate treatment of this condition can have terrible consequences in addition to pain and suffering, such as loss of eyesight.

Diagnosis of this condition involves a full history, physical and neurological examination, eye exam, imaging, and sometimes even a spinal tap to check the pressure of the fluid in the central nervous system.  Treatment can not only reduce symptoms of pain and suffering but can also prevent vision loss.
